Introduction
The tail light signals to other drivers if the vehicle is stopping, slowing down, or changing direction. A broken tail light can cause confusion for other drivers. Ultimately, this guide can help avoid receiving a ticket from the police or causing an accident.
Before beginning this repair, power down the ignition, place the car in park, and engage the parking brake.
What you need
Step 1
Tail Light Bulb
- Open the trunk door.

- Remove the two screws with the Phillips screwdriver, rotating counter clockwise.
- The taillight housing can now be detached from the vehicle.

- Gently pull the detached taillight housing away from the vehicle.
- There will be wires attached to two different bulb sockets.

Step 4
- Disconnect the harness from the bulb socket by pushing in on the tabs and pulling.
- Removing the harness from the bulb socket might require some force. Try moving the harness back and forth while pushing on the tabs if you are having trouble removing the harness.
- Repeat the last two steps to disconnect the second harness from the bulb socket.

- Remove the damaged bulb by firmly gripping the bulb and pulling.
- Removing the bulb from the socket may require some force.
- Be careful while handling the bulb as it may break.

- Place the new bulb in the bulb socket.
- Repeat this process to replace the second bulb.
