              2005 Honda Accord Opening Hood Guide               
  • Identify the open hood latch. It is located to the left of your brake pedal.
  • Pull latch toward you. You should hear a click from the front of the car.

Step 2

  • Walk to the front of the car.
  • Slide your hand under the hood, just above the Honda logo. Feel for a small rectangular lever. Pull the lever up, and lift the hood.
  • Be sure to lift the hood all the way up, until the pneumatic braces hold the hood in place.

Step 3

              Engine Air Filter               
  • Identify the Air Filter Housing. Located to the right of your engine, this is the black plastic box directly above the battery.

Step 4

  • Unscrew the four bolts in the corners of the Air Filter Housing. This loosens the top of the housing from the bottom of the housing.
  • The bolts cannot be completely removed.

Step 5

  • Next, separate the air filter housing from the bottom of the housing. To do this, with both hands, grab the Air Filter Housing from the exterior and push towards the engine block while pulling up.
  • It is easiest to remove the top of the housing by grabbing below the air filter, and removing the filter with the top of the housing.

Step 6

  • Remove the old air filter by gently pulling it from the top of the Air Filter housing.
  • Replace the old air filter with a new one. The blue side should be facing down.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
