Introduction
Note: This guide uses a 4.8L V8 engine on a 2007 Silverado to demonstrate the procedure. The air filter size may vary depending on the size of the engine.
What you need

Open the Hood
- The hood release handle is located on the driver’s side to the left of the emergency brake pedal.
- Pull on the hood release handle to pop the hood.

Step 3
Remove the Airbox Cover
- The airbox cover is fastened down with four Torx T25 screws. Remove each one with a Torx T25 screwdriver.
- The front right screw is slightly hidden and a bit difficult to reach. You’ll need to slide your screwdriver in between radiator hoses in order to reach it.

Step 4
- Grab onto one of the corners on the left side of the airbox cover and pull it up to reveal the air filter inside the airbox.
- The airbox cover will still be attached to the air intake hose. This hose is pretty flexible, though, so you’ll be able to lift the cover up out of the way just enough to replace the air filter.
