What you need
Step 1
Gather required parts and tools
Required:
A set of socket wrenches
A flat-head screwdriver
A Phillips-head screwdriver
The replacement fog light bulbs and/or fog light housing.
When ordering replacement parts online, make sure the item description fits the same year and trim as your vehicle.
The fog light kit linked above comes with a new wiring harness as well as a switch. It is not necessary to rewire the fog lights or replace the switch if they are working properly. Rewiring is not within the scope of this guide.

Step 2
Disconnect the car battery
- Open the front hood of the car and locate the car battery.
- Use a 9mm socket wrench to loosen the bolt fastening the connector to the negative terminal.
- Ignore the screw shown on the terminal. It is not part of the typical battery and terminal setup.
- Once it is disconnected, put the connector to the side, where it will not touch any metal.
- Do NOT skip this step. The following steps involve wires and light bulbs. Failure to disconnect the battery may result in electrocution during the process.

Step 3
Remove the plastic underside shield
- Remove the four bolts on the underside of the front of the car, to release the plastic shield protecting the back-end of the fog lights.
- It may not be necessary to remove all four bolts. Removing only the middle two bolts may provide enough room to complete the next steps.
- Once the bolts are removed, use a flat head screw driver to pry the plastic shield away from the underside of the car.

Step 4
Remove the fog light bulb
- Orientation: This view is from the underside of the car, looking up. The wire is pointing toward the ground, and the fog light housing is facing the front of the car.
- To loosen the fog light bulb, grab it by the head and turn counterclockwise (↶), so the wire turns with the bulb.
- When you feel that it’s loose, carefully pull it out of the housing.
- To remove the fog light bulb from the harness, pinch the sides and give it a little tug until it detaches.

Step 5
Replace the fog light bulb
- Push the new bulb onto the harness until it clicks into place.
- To confirm that your new fog light bulbs are working, reconnect the negative terminal, from Step 2, then turn on the fog lights from inside the car.
- Do not place the bulbs back inside the fog light housing yet. All wiring must be detached from the front bumper to allow removal in the next steps.
- The fog light bulb fits the harness in two different orientations, but only one orientation will work.
- If the light doesn’t come on, try attaching the bulb in the other orientation, rotated to the opposite direction. (In the first photo, the second orientation would be with the bulb pointing downward, and the harness in the same position.)
- If the light still doesn’t come on, then you may have a bad bulb.

Step 6
Remove the fog light housing
- The fog light housing has clips behind them that are “snap ons”. To remove the housing, simply stick your finger in between the edges and pull it out.
- If you’re having difficulties, you can use a flat head or any other narrow tool to slide under the housing to pry it out.
- When using something to pry the housing out, be careful not to damage the paint on your car.

Step 7
Remove front bumper (Part 1)
- Our next step is to remove the front bumper of the car. We’re going to start by removing each side of the fenders.
- Remove the two plastic clips by prying them out with a flat-head screwdriver or other thin tool.
- Outer clip
- Inside clip
- Once these two plastic clips are removed, we can now use a flat head screw driver to pry away the plastic fender which, reveals a hidden bolt.
- The purpose of removing the front bumper is to have easier access to replacing the fog light lamp. It is still possible to replace the lamp without removing the bumper, but you’ll be working in a much tighter spot with no visibility of what’s behind the bumper.

Step 8
Remove front bumper (Part 2)
- Use a 10mm socket wrench to remove the bolt.
- This bolt is what holds the front bumper to the side fender.
- Once this bolt is removed, carefully pull the side of the front bumper towards you, to release the bumper.
- Repeat this same step on the other side.

Step 9
Remove front bumper (Part 3)
- The next step for removing the front bumper is to remove the remaining bolts and screws that’s on top.
- Remove the screws on the right and left using a Phillips-head screwdriver.
- Remove the middle bolt using a 10mm socket wrench.
- Once these last bolt and screws are removed, the front bumper is now completely detached.
- With a slight tug from the middle, the bumper will come completely off.

Step 10
Fog light lamp removal and replacement
- This is the view from inside the front bumper. With the bumper completely off, you now have full access to fog light mounting screws.
- The fog light housing has four mounting holes, but may have only one or two mounting screws. This is normal.
- Remove all mounting screws to detach the fog light lamp from the housing.
- Align replacement fog light lamp on the housing and attach using mounting screws.
