I think you should open the drain plug on the filler housing first, then use a plastic tool to drain the oil from the fillter

Do you know if there’s any modification possible to get traditional disposable oil filter canisters? That was too tedious to be regular maintenance. I do it myself to save money and know it gets done but it seems like the whole process is overengineered.
