Introduction
The center-dial touchpad can become inoperable due to excessive wear and tear. This guide illustrates the repair process to replace the COMAND center-dial touchpad on a Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
An OEM COMAND center-dial touchpad replacement is required for this guide. Consult with your nearest authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer for more information.
What you need
Step 1
COMAND Centre-Dial Touchpad
- Start by pressing down on the button that opens the center arm-rest.
- Pop each side of the silver trim using the trim removal tool or a plastic opening tool.
- Remove the silver trim.

Step 2
- Remove the two 20 mm screws securing the center console with a T20 Torx screwdriver.

- Make sure there aren’t any loose articles in the center storage compartment.
- Lift the end of the center-console and flip it to reveal the undercarriage of the center-dial touchpad and its wirings.

- Press your thumb on the safety tab to remove each blue connection.

- Press down on the center of the white connection in the middle and slide the safety latch to the left to pull out the main white connection.

Step 6
- Remove the two 15 mm T15 Torx screws holding the center-dial touchpad.
- Firmly press the center-dial touchpad out to remove the unit.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
