- Disconnect the laptop from the power source.
- Turn the laptop over so the bottom is facing up.

- Insert the back side of the spudger into the crack of the optical drive.
- Pop the optical drive out of place with the spudger.

- Remove the optical drive with your hands by pulling straight outwards.
- Replace the old optical drive with a new one.
