Introduction

It may be necessary to replace this component if the laptop constantly overheats, the fan makes strange noises while spinning or won’t spin at all.

Please be gentle while installing the new fan in the device so as to not damage the motherboard or the new fan. Computers fans can be very touchy and may become unbalanced if dropped or heavily jolted.

What you need

Step 1

              Back Cover Panel               
  • Disconnect all power from the laptop and turn over so the bottom is facing you.
  • Remove the twelve 07.mm Phillips #0 screws from the back cover.
  • Work a plastic opening tool underneath and around the perimeter of the bottom cover.
  • Once unclipped, remove the bottom cover.

Disconnect all power from the laptop and turn over so the bottom is facing you.

Remove the twelve 07.mm Phillips #0 screws from the back cover.

Work a plastic opening tool underneath and around the perimeter of the bottom cover.

Once unclipped, remove the bottom cover.

Step 2

              Battery               
  • Remove the two 0.7mm Phillips #00 screws from the battery and unplug the battery from the motherboard.
  • Lift the battery out of the case.

Remove the two 0.7mm Phillips #00 screws from the battery and unplug the battery from the motherboard.

Lift the battery out of the case.

Step 3

              Fan               
  • Remove the seven 0.7mm Phillips #00 screws securing the fan in place.

Remove the seven 0.7mm Phillips #00 screws securing the fan in place.

Step 4

  • Unplug fan from motherboard.
  • Lift and remove fan from case.

Unplug fan from motherboard.

Lift and remove fan from case.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
