When a USB device is plugged-in correctly, the Acer Aspire Switch does not detect the USB device.

Before troubleshooting the USB port, try to insert and remove various USB devices (like external mouses, flash drives, etc.) from the USB port. We want to be sure that the problem lies in the port, rather than the USB device.

Make sure the USB port is clean. You can clean the port easily with 5 steps:

  • Before doing anything, turn off the device, and make sure the charging cable is not plugged into the device.Pull out any large dust balls with your fingers or tweezers.Blow compressed air into the port at an angle. Blowing air straight on may push dust further into the port, so it is important that you point the nozzle at an angle.Wet a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol, and wipe all around the inside of the port, including the contacts. To dry the port, wait for the alcohol to evaporate on its own within a few hours. To speed up the process, absorb some of the moisture with a lint-free cloth. DO NOT use another cotton swab to dry the port as it may leave cotton debris behind.

If the USB port still does not work, you may need to replace the USB port (the guide can be found here).

Symptoms of this include sporadic or non-existent communication between the tablet and the keyboard.

In the event that the keyboard does not dock properly to the tablet, ensure that the connector between the keyboard and tablet is free of dirt or obstructions. To do this, please use a dry method such as a light brush or cloth.

Ensure that all drivers are up to date on the tablet. Use the following steps to launch the most recent update:

  • Connect the tablet to the keyboard dock and AC adapter.Press the Windows key to bring up the Start screen.Type in Live Updater and double click Live Updater to launch the program. When the program has launched, tap Check for Updates.Install the keyboard dock update.Close the application.

In the event that the aforementioned steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to replace the docking connectors (the guide can be found here).

The device will not respond or show any signs of powering on, typically indicated by the screen being completely black.

In the event that the device will not turn on, please attempt each of the following options as possible solutions.

  • Make sure that the device is charged.Attempt the use of a different charging cable.Ensure that there is power coming from the outlet on the wall to the charger that is plugged into the device.

If none of these options power the device on, you may have to replace the power button (the guide can be found here).

If none of the aforementioned options power the device on, you may have to replace the internal battery (the guide can be found here).

The power light will not respond or light up when the device is either turning on or is already turned on.

Make sure the device is turned on. If the device itself does not turn on, please refer to the section: Acer Aspire Switch 10 Does Not Turn On.

If the power light does not turn on when the device is either turning on or is already turned on, you may have to replace the power light (the guide can be found here).

While using the device, the trackpad becomes unresponsive and stops working.

If the trackpad needs to be updated, the Acer Live Updater should install the latest update. Use the following steps to launch the update:

If the trackpad is unresponsive, please attempt to disable and enable it. To disable or enable the trackpad, press the Fn key and the F7 key simultaneously. A message on the screen will indicate if the trackpad is disabled or enabled.

If the trackpad is still unresponsive, you may need to replace the trackpad (the guide can be found here).
