Step 1
Keyboard
- Turn off the laptop and remove the battery.
- Remove two screws securing the Keyboard.
- The Keyboard is held by two locking clips, under the battery. Use the sharp tip of a plastic tool to release the keyboard.

- Remove the Keyboard and disconnect the two flex cables:
- Keyboard flex cable
- Keyboard Light flex cable

Step 3
Optical Drive
- Remove the screw securing the Optical drive and gently press the drive to show slightly as at the second pic.
- Slide the drive to the left and remove it.
Remove the screw securing the Optical drive and gently press the drive to show slightly as at the second pic.
Slide the drive to the left and remove it.
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Is it safe to use with the optical drive out? I just took it out and I don’t get the part until next week but I need to use my laptop… can I use it?
I needed to replace it because I dropped my laptop off the arm of the sofa with the drive open and falling on that side too.
Is it safe to use the laptop with the optical drive out?
