Step 1

              Back Cover Replacement               
  • Place your Chromebook upside down.
  • Utilizing the precision magnetized Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove all thirteen 6.5 mm Phillips screws that secure the back cover.
  • Before doing anything, make sure your Acer Chromebook is completely turned off.

  • Use the plastic opening tool to carefully remove the bottom.

              Battery               
  • Remove the two 3.6 mm Phillips screws holding the battery in place.

  • Disconnect the connector that attaches the battery to the Chromebook with a pair of pliers or tweezers.
  • Alternatively, you could use your hands, as it may be difficult to unhook the connector.

Step 5

  • Remove the battery.

              cooling fan / CPU heat sink assembly               
  • Remove the six 4.7 mm Phillips screws that secure the fan.

  • Disconnect these cables from the motherboard using the tweezers.
  • Alternatively, you may use your hands.
  • Pull out the fan.

              Memory               
  • Remove the 3.6 mm Phillips screw that secures the SSD in place.

  • Pull out the SSD.

              Motherboard               
  • Disconnect the speaker cable from the motherboard.

  • Disconnect the display cable from the motherboard.

  • Gently pull out the wire for the 2 PIC connectors.

  • Remove the two 3.7 mm Phillips screws that hold the motherboard in place.

Step 14

  • Lift up the black tab on the ZIF connector to release the ribbon cable.
  • Carefully remove the ribbon cable.

  • Lift up the black tab on the ZIF connector to release the ribbon cable.
  • Gently remove the ribbon cable

  • Lift up the black tab on the ZIF connector to release the ribbon cable.
  • Remove the ribbon cable.

Step 17

  • Lift up and remove the motherboard.

Lift up and remove the motherboard.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
