What you need

              Back Cover               
  • Use a Phillips head screw driver to remove the 13 screws in these locations.

  • Use a plastic spudger to pry up the bottom cover and remove it.
  • Be sure to pry along other edges if necessary to avoid damaging the back cover.

              Battery               
  • Unscrew the 2 battery screws.
  • Make sure you keep these screws separate from the back cover screws; they are different!

  • Use two fingers to unplug the battery-to-motherboard connection.

  • Take out battery by lifting it up in the manner pictured.

              Trackpad               
  • Remove 9 trackpad screws. They will be of two different varieties.
  • Make sure to keep these screw separate from those in the previous steps.
  • On the back of the trackpad, there is a plastic film that will cover some of the screws. Simply pull it back (do not pull if off) to remove the screws.

Step 7

  • Remove the trackpad ribbon cable.
  • To do this, lift the small black component; it is hinged to the white component.
  • Then simply pull the ribbon cable out of the connector.

Step 8

  • Remove the small metal frame by simply lifting it out.
  • Carefully peel up the tape holding the trackpad in place.
  • Remove the trackpad from the computer frame.
  • Make sure to watch for any wires or other components and ensure that they are out of the way when removing the trackpad.
