What you need
Step 1
Battery
- Make sure the laptop is turned off and unplugged before starting.
- Unscrew the thirteen 10mm screws on the back of the computer using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.
- Using the spudger or other prying tool, gently pry the back off of the device.
- Be sure not to pry too hard as it may result in snapping the back plate.

Step 2
- Unscrew the two 5mm battery screws using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

- Gently lift the battery up and away from the hooks on the bottom of the device keeping the battery in place.
- Be sure the battery is away from the clips before pulling away so as not to break the clips.

- Detach the connecting cable from the motherboard by pulling away.
- Remove the battery from the device.

Touchpad
- Unscrew the two screws on the silver restraint with the Phillips #0 screwdriver.
- Lift the silver restraint from the device.

- Unscrew the five screws on the touchpad.
- You will need to move aside the plastic covering that is above each screw.

- Using a spudger, lift the black electrical tape to the left of the touchpad.
- Remove the black wire running across the touchpad from the two hooks on top of the part.
- Be careful not to damage the black wire when removing from the two hooks.

- Lift the flap on the wire connecting the motherboard and remove the connector.

- Remove the touchpad from the device.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
