Introduction

The steps are straightforward, but wires should always be handled with caution, as they can be fragile.

What you need

Step 1

              Bottom Panel               
  • Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove all eleven 7.0 mm screws from the bottom of the Chromebook.

Step 2

  • Find the seam along the edge of the device.
  • Wedge a finger into the groove and separate the panel from the device. If necessary, use a spudger.
  • The panel will still be connected to the device by internal wiring, so pull it off with some caution. It is best to flip the panel to the side once the seam has been broken.

              Battery               
  • Remove the two 4.5 mm Phillips screws located at the sides of the battery.

  • Grip the battery connection using two plastic opening tools.
  • Carefully but firmly, pry the connector from its socket by pulling it towards the battery.
  • When reconnecting the battery to the motherboard, place the red wires closer to the edge of the device and the black wires towards the center.

  • Lift the battery out by pulling upward.

              Speakers               
  • Lift the retaining flaps of the two ZIF connectors into the upright position using the flat end of the spudger.
  • Unplug the tabs from the connectors by gently pulling them out with the tweezers.

Step 7

  • Slide back both sides of the locking mechanism of the touchpad using the narrow end of the spudger.
  • Unplug the trackpad wire by gently pulling it out of the connector with the tweezers.

Step 8

  • Unplug the audio connector from the motherboard with the tweezers.
  • Be sure to pull the plug by holding it at the base, not yanking on the wires, as this could damage the device.

Step 9

  • Pop the speakers off of the device by hand.
  • They are held on only by a mild adhesive and should come off easily.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
