Step 2

  • Entry method is to remove the rear bathtub case, the seal is easy to break with opening tools.
  • The bathtub case is attached to the front display panel by soft plastic clips and without adhesive.
  • A spring connector connects the motherboard to the bathtub case so no need to worry about damaging fragile cables during removal.

Step 3

  • The battery cable runs short and requires a careful and precise wiggle to remove its connection from the motherboard.
  • Only two adhesive pull tabs secure the battery. This is preferred over adhesive which requires heat and prying to separate.
  • The adhesive strips will need to be replaced after removal.

Step 4

  • Layer of components removable upon opening: power/volume button cable, loudspeaker.
  • The power/volume button cable is lightly secured with adhesive.
  • Two Phillips #0 screws secure the loudspeaker housing.

Step 5

  • The display, digitizer, and camera cables can be disconnected without removing the motherboard.
  • The motherboard is secured to the display frame by three Phillips #0 screws.
  • The Micro-USB port, headphone jack and microphone are soldered to the motherboard. These are common failure points and it would be better if they could be individually replaced.
  • The front and rear camera are tethered and will need to be replaced together if one where to fail.

The display, digitizer, and camera cables can be disconnected without removing the motherboard.

The motherboard is secured to the display frame by three Phillips #0 screws.

I have an Acer Iconia tablet A500, 32GB RAM, 1GB ROM

I would like to increase my ROM to 4GB ROM, is it possible.

Can you recommend someone or a place that can do this for me?

I have used it very little, sat quietly in a drawer - when I decided to use it, it won’t power up! Sometimes it shows a splash screen with one word on it - ACER (if I remember right). Any idea what might be going on, I’d be grateful - would even give it to someone to revive and use

Is this Acer Iconia One 7 B1-780 (2017) or the older 2014 version?
