The laptop doesn’t show any signs of powering on and is unresponsive.

Is the power adapter fully plugged in, and if so, is the light that indicates it is plugged in on? If not, that means the adapter is faulty, and you should consider buying a replacement adapter.

The laptop boots up while plugged in but does not turn on or stay on when disconnected from power. You can replace the battery with this guide.

If you attempt to charge your laptop, it will start to boot up but shut down immediately after. Also, if you have screen issues, like a blue screen that won’t go away or the display freezing, you may have a problem with your motherboard. Replace the motherboard using this guide.

The laptop’s display might be very dim or completely black, but the rest of the computer is running.

The display might be disabled. To fix this, hold the “Fn” key located near the bottom left of the keyboard and press “F5.” If the display is disabled, this will re-enable the display.

If this does not fix the issue, repeat the above step once more. Then, hold down the Windows key and press “P” twice. The computer may have been set to “Second screen only,” which will set the computer back to “PC screen only.”

The display of the device may be broken and require replacement. Replace the display using this guide.

The device is warm or hot to the touch and may be shutting down during usage.

Any excess dust can get trapped within the device’s vents and/or fans and cause the device to overheat. Carefully cleaning off the dust will resolve this issue.

If you notice your laptop is silent and there is no airflow by the laptop vents, try replacing the fan assembly using this guide.

You may need to replace the thermal paste. If your cooling fans need to be replaced as well, you can restore the old thermal paste in conjunction with replacing the cooling fan while the laptop is disassembled. You can find a thermal paste like Arctic Silver Thermal Paste and the guide for replacing it here.

The keys have no response, and/or they appear damaged.

When a key is pressed, is there a delay to the key popping back, or is the key remaining pressed down? Remove the key and check to see if something is interfering with the key. Then wipe the area clean underneath, then place the key back.

If a key is missing, replace it by popping the new key into place.

The touchpad on your device is not responding.

The touchpad might be disabled. To fix this, hold the “Fn” key located near the bottom left of the keyboard and press “F7.” If the touchpad was disabled, this will re-enable it.

The touchpad of the device may be broken and require replacement. Replace the touchpad using this guide.
