The laptop turns on but does not detect the hard drive.
This can happen even though there is nothing wrong with the laptop, so by simply restarting the laptop, the computer may work fine. If not, the laptop may be experiencing a hardware problem.
The cable that connects the hard drive to the motherboard may have been disconnected, damaged, or stopped working. Replace the hard drive cable.
If even after the cable has been replaced, windows will not start, the hard drive itself may be the problem. Replace the hard drive using this guide.
After the computer finishes doing its startup, the screen goes black and you can’t see what is on the screen’s display.
The display setting on your laptop might have been saved to project on another display rather than the laptop’s screen. To revert the display back to normal:
- Use an HDMI cable, connect your computer to a screen or TV that has the HDMI feature in order to see the screen and be able to move the mouse around.Once you’re able to see your computer on the screen or TV, press the “Fn” function key in the lower-left corner of your keyboard.Press the “F5”. You’ll be shown 4 optional settings where you can set the screen back to only the laptops.
If the above action does not fix the problem, follow these steps:
- Hold down the Windows key, and then push “P” until you are able to see your laptop’s display turn back on.The computer may have been previously set to “Second Screen Only”; doing the action above will convert it back to “PC Screen Only”.
