Introduction

For your safety, discharge your battery below 25% before disassembling your device. This reduces the risk of a dangerous thermal event if the battery is accidentally damaged during the repair. If your battery is swollen, take appropriate precautions.

What you need

  • Be sure to power off and unplug your device before you begin your repair.
  • Remove the twelve screws on the back cover using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

  • Use an opening tool to pry the back cover open.

  • Remove two 4 mm screws at the two corners of the battery using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

  • Carefully remove the three tapes on the battery.

  • Carefully slide the battery connector out of its motherboard socket.

  • Remove the battery from the device.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
