Once laptop is fully charged, the battery life is either poor or short.
Overtime, the battery life in a laptop will decrease due to old age, constant use while plugged in, or not recharging/discharging it to its extremes. After many cycles, a laptop will last on battery power for only a short period of time. In order to bring your battery life back to normal, you must replace the battery pack. When clicking the power button, the laptop fails to power on.
If the laptop only powers when it is plugged in, then the battery life has come to an end. This is due to old age, constant use while plugged in, or not recharging/discharging it to its extremes. In order to bring your battery life back to normal, you must replace the battery pack. Follow the steps on how to replace your battery pack by clicking here.
If the power indicator is not lit regardless of the laptop being plugged in or not, then the power adapter may be faulty. Try borrowing a power adapter from a friend and see if it works. If this is not possible, you may have to purchase a new power adapter.
If the power indicator is lit but the laptop does not power on, then a non-bootable disk may be plugged into the external USB floppy drive. Ensure to remove or replace non-bootable disk with a system disk and then press to reset system.
If the power indicator is not lit regardless of the laptop being plugged in (with a working power adapter) or not, then the DC input may be faulty. The laptop is powered on; however, display is black or slightly dimmed.
If the display is dimmed, the laptop may have an automatic dimmed display setting turned on, or it may be on power saver mode. Check the laptop’s settings to ensure this feature is not turned on. If it still appears dimmed, check below for further troubleshooting.
If the display is black or dimmed after troubleshooting, the display may likely be damaged and needs to be replaced. Follow the steps on replacing the display by clicking here.
Laptop begins to get extremely hot while using it.
If the laptop begins to overheat during use, the slots and ports may be blocked and obstructed. Ensure that all openings on the laptop are not being obstructed so that the laptop’s internals can get proper ventilation. Keep laptop on a flat surface, and do not leave it resting on a pillow, bed, couch etc.
Another reason may be due to excessive dust obstructing the laptop’s fan. When this happens, the laptop does not get proper ventilation which causes overheating. To solve this, purchase a compressed air duster and spray it on the laptop’s openings, removing all dust and unnecessary gunk covering its openings.
The connection of the CPU to the thermal module is the greyish color thermal paste which allows for proper heat transfer between metal components. It is likely that the thermal paste on the thermal module may not be providing its intended use anymore. Follow the steps on replacing the thermal paste by clicking here.
If the first three methods do not solve the laptop’s overheating issues, then it may be an issue with the thermal module. The thermal module may not be connected correctly, or it needs to be replaced. Follow the steps on replacing the thermal module by clicking here.
The keys on the keyboard and not responding even though laptop is powered on.
Sometimes if you click a button by mistake, the operating system will disable the keyboard. In order to fix this issue, you must restart the computer. Majority of the time this will correct an unresponsive keyboard.
Another common issue with the keyboard being unresponsive has to do with the keyboard driver installed in the operating system. Sometimes the driver stops working correctly. Try reinstalling your keyboard driver.
