Introduction

However, in order for the derailleur to work properly, it needs to be adjusted so that it’s shifting over the correct range. That’s what this guide will show you how to do.

What you need

Step 1

              Adjusting Nishiki Aero II Front Derailleur               
  • Shift the bike’s rear derailleur onto the innermost gear.

Shift the bike’s rear derailleur onto the innermost gear.

Step 2

  • Shift the front derailleur as far inward as it can go.
  • If the chain falls off, tighten the outside limit screw on top of the derailleur.
  • If the chain can’t shift to the lower gear, loosen the outside limit screw on top of the derailleur.
  • Yes, the outer limit screw adjusts the inner derailleur limit.

Shift the front derailleur as far inward as it can go.

If the chain falls off, tighten the outside limit screw on top of the derailleur.

If the chain can’t shift to the lower gear, loosen the outside limit screw on top of the derailleur.

Yes, the outer limit screw adjusts the inner derailleur limit.

Step 3

  • Next, shift the rear derailleur onto the outermost gear.

Step 4

  • Shift the front derailleur as far outwards as you can.
  • If the derailleur shifts the chain off the gear, tighten the inner limit screw on top of the front derailleur.
  • If the derailleur is unable to shift onto the outer gear, loosen the inner limit screw on top of the front derailleur.
  • Just like last time, the inner limit screw adjusts the outer limit of the derailleur.

Shift the front derailleur as far outwards as you can.

If the derailleur shifts the chain off the gear, tighten the inner limit screw on top of the front derailleur.

If the derailleur is unable to shift onto the outer gear, loosen the inner limit screw on top of the front derailleur.

Just like last time, the inner limit screw adjusts the outer limit of the derailleur.

Now, your bike shouldn’t have any more problems with the chain falling off.
