What you need

Step 1

  • With the tablet facing you pry open the tablet. Start over in the left corner (by the buttons) working clockwise until the tablet is open using either a set of opening picks or a plastic pry tool.

Step 2

  • Once the screen is separated from the back panel, there will be two cables connecting the screen to the interior of the tablet (one silver, one black).
  • Start with the black cable that is connected to the white tab. Remove the black tape that is holding the end of the cable to the tab.
  • Then gently pull the cable away from the tab with tweezers, disconnecting the plug from the outlet.

Once the screen is separated from the back panel, there will be two cables connecting the screen to the interior of the tablet (one silver, one black).

Start with the black cable that is connected to the white tab. Remove the black tape that is holding the end of the cable to the tab.

Then gently pull the cable away from the tab with tweezers, disconnecting the plug from the outlet.

Step 3

  • Now remove the silver cable by removing the tape connecting the cable and screen, then gently detaching the gold cable from the outlet.

Step 4

  • Now the interior of the tablet is fully accessible.
  • Heat up the soldering iron and once fully heated put the tip of the soldering iron on the connection terminals on the motherboard. Once the solder melts the cables and be easily pulled away.
  • With soldering iron also disconnect the four speaker cables on the right side of the motherboard. Put the tip of the soldering iron on each connection, melting the solder so the wires can be removed.

Now the interior of the tablet is fully accessible.

Heat up the soldering iron and once fully heated put the tip of the soldering iron on the connection terminals on the motherboard. Once the solder melts the cables and be easily pulled away.

With soldering iron also disconnect the four speaker cables on the right side of the motherboard. Put the tip of the soldering iron on each connection, melting the solder so the wires can be removed.

Step 5

  • Using a Philips #00 screwdriver, unscrew the 3 screws that connects the motherboard to the tablet.

Step 6

  • When the motherboard is completely unscrewed, flip it over so you can see the underside.
  • Using tweezers, gently press the sides of the black plug and pull away until the cable is detached.
  • Remove the other cable connector by gently pressing on the sides of the plug and pulling away until it is detached as well.

When the motherboard is completely unscrewed, flip it over so you can see the underside.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
