Introduction

What you need

Step 1

              Case Separation
  • Slide the flat end of the spudger under the front edge of the screen and carefully pry it open.
  • The front edge is the side with the buttons on it.
  • You may hear a cracking sound when pulling the case off of the device. This is normal, and is just the clips being pulled apart. However, be careful and pull the clips slowly/cautiously to avoid damage.
  • Be aware of the speaker cable when removing the case, as it is still attached to the motherboard.

Step 2

              Tape Removal
  • Locate the Speakers; they should be attached to the case as shown.
  • Follow the wires back to the motherboard, removing all tape covering the wires along the way.
  • This will make it easier to move the wires around.

Step 3

              Desoldering Speakers
  • Desolder the black wire from the motherboard. This will separate the speakers from the board, allowing you to replace them.
  • Exercise EXTREME caution while soldering. It is very easy to burn yourself, or damage the surrounding components. For a basic guide of how to desolder, follow this link: http://www.dummies.com/programming/elect
