What you need

ASUS F550 HDD/Ram Cover Removal
- Remove the battery, using release clips.
- Ensure device has no residual power by attempting boot once battery is removed.
- Remove either 2 (or 4 for a full teardown) 12mm phillips screws, then removing the bottom cover to gain access to the HDD and RAM.
- Remove HDD and RAM cover

- Remove 7 5mm Phillips screws

- Flip laptop and open lid. Separate the keyboard plate from the main housing, using a plastic prying tool. Being careful not to damage the LED indicators or other peripheries.
- Disconnect the LED, trackpad, and keyboard ribbon cables.
- The keyboard can now be removed

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

great help in getting to the keyboard. keyboard removal requires breaking all the securing posts , but quite easy.
just make sure there are no little bits left on assembly. also take your time and gently fold back all earth straps and insulators etc and then fold back after keyboard is fitted. didn’t have one but maybe a hot glue gun would be useful to just pin a few things down.??

with a good prying tool shouldn’t break any components, i use steel guitar picks and standard plastic wedge tools to separate the parts, however glad to know this guide helped.

Thanks for the instructions posted above. Very helpful.
New question. Can the basic keyboard itself be replaced without recourse to replacing the surrounding frame. I attach a link to illustrate what I want to do. The link shows the basic keyboard on it’s own without the fruit ans salad around it. Thanks
