Your computer will not power on or load the operating system correctly. Usually accompanied by warnings or error messages.

The laptop frequently freezes, reboots, or displays the “Blue Screen of Death.” Other issues associated with a broken RAM are:

In order to assess the state of your RAM, refer to this guide.

Your laptop might not have any charge. In order to clarify, please consult the following common issue:

Computer dies/shuts down after a short period of time.

  • Battery issues might also be linked to a defective or broken charge cord.In order to test to see if your charge cord is working, make sure it is plugged into a working outlet. Try turning your laptop off and plugging it in to be charged.If the device still does not charge, exchange the power cord for another to see if the device will charge with it instead.If the device still will not power on or hold a charge, then the broken battery will need to be replaced.

  • If the laptop only powers on when plugged into power, no matter the length of charging time, then the battery is faulty.If the laptop battery only lasts a short period of time when disconnected from the charger, the battery may be faulty.Pay careful attention to make sure that all connections are made between the motherboard of the laptop and the battery.

Replace the battery using this guide.

Computer feels hot to the touch, shuts down or does not boot due to overheating.

The easiest method to remove dust from the CPU fan and vent is to use compressed air canisters to clear the dust.

If the CPU cooling fan is not working, replace it by referring to this guide.

Audible sounds coming from computer, user may experience slow loading speeds or be alerted that boot device not recognized.

Issues a user may experience with the hard drive can include:

  • Ticking or grinding sounds coming from the laptopSlow loading speedsAlerts that boot device is not recognized

To replace the hard drive, refer to this guide.

There may be a component that has not been properly secured inside the laptop.

  • You may not be able to identify this loose component without potential rigorous disassembly of the laptop. To start the disassembly process, refer to this guide for removing the back cover.

Computer is not connecting to Wi-Fi networks.

If the laptop is not connecting to Wi-Fi networks, the Wi-Fi card is most likely at fault.

To replace the Wi-Fi card, refer to this guide.

If the user is trying to access a network that they are not authorized to (i.e. they do not have the proper credentials to log into the network) access to that network will not be granted.

  • For confirmation that your laptop is connected to the network, locate the wifi settings within the laptop interface. There should also be a small icon indicating that your device is connected to the network.
