Introduction
Read all steps ahead of time so you know what to expect. Before removing the motherboard, you should backup all your important information, then shutdown Windows and disconnect the power cord before proceeding.
What you need

Back Case
- Remove ten screws with the T5 driver.
- Use the opening tool to carefully pry off the back case.

Step 2
CPU Fan/Heat Sink
- Using the iFixit opening tool, gently pry the CPU fan connector out of the socket.

Step 3
- Move the black cable located around the CPU fan out of the holder.
- Remove the following 9 screws:
- Three Phillips screws
- Six Phillips screws
- Make sure not to mix up both types of screws.
- Gently pull vertically on the CPU fan/ heat sink assembly until it is free.
- Before placing a new CPU fan/heat sink assembly, the CPU and GPU surfaces must be cleaned off and thermal compound must be reapplied.
Move the black cable located around the CPU fan out of the holder.
Remove the following 9 screws:
Three Phillips screws
Six Phillips screws
Make sure not to mix up both types of screws.
Gently pull vertically on the CPU fan/ heat sink assembly until it is free.
Before placing a new CPU fan/heat sink assembly, the CPU and GPU surfaces must be cleaned off and thermal compound must be reapplied.

Hard Drive
- Remove four screws with the Phillips #00 screwdriver.

- Gently lift the hard disk out using the black tab.

- Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver remove the four screws of the metal casing
- Remove the hard disk from the metal casing

Motherboard
- Disconnect the four marked cables connectors at the sockets.

- Lift the connecting ports up prior to removing the connectors.

- Remove the screws holding the hinges down on both sides of the device.
- A pry tool might be needed to lift the hinge.

- Remove nine, 3.2 mm screws to fully release motherboard.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
