- Keep the hard drive away from magnets. Magnets can wipe data from the drive and render it unrecoverable.Keep the hard drive away from any and all liquids. Similar to magnets, water damage can prevent data recovery.
What you need

Hard Drive
- Remove the 16 mm and 9 mm screws on the small panel on the bottom of the laptop using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

- Insert the metal spudger into the lip of the back panel and gently pry it off.

- Unscrew the four 9 mm screws on each corner of the hard drive using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

- Pull the black film tab towards the outside of the computer to unplug it.
- Remove the hard drive by pulling up on the black film tab.
