The laptop will not turn on or charge when plugged in
The power adapter is located on the charging cord. If the light on the power adapter is not on, check to make sure it is plugged in. If the cord is plugged in and the light is still not lit, you may need to replace the adapter.
If the battery does not hold a charge, but the power adapter is not faulty, your battery is faulty and needs to be replaced. To replace the battery, see the replacement guide.
Fan will not turn on in order to cool overheated laptop, or is blowing hot air.
If dust or other particles have built up on the fan, it will not turn. Simply blow air (preferably through a compressed air can) through the vents to clear the build up.
If the problem isn’t a build up of dust or other particles, the heat sensor may be off. To correct this, perform a hard reset by shutting down and removing all power to the laptop. Booting the laptop back up should reset the sensor setting.
If the above solutions are not effective, the device probably has a damaged CPU (Central Processing Unit) fan that needs to be replaced. To replace the fan, see the replacement guide.
One or multiple keys on the keyboard is not responding or is broken.
Debris can sometimes lodge a key into place. Remove the key, using the replacement guide and ensure that there is no debris preventing it from moving.
If you are missing a key or there is no debris preventing the key from moving, you may need to replace a single key.
If the entire keyboard is not responding, it likely needs to be replaced.
The laptop’s track pad mouse is not responding to touch.
Press FN+F9 to correct a disabled track pad.
If your track pad is not disabled, your laptop may need an updated driver. You can update your driver by finding the device manager in your laptop’s settings, then searching for a driver update.
Turn on the track pad in the motherboard BIOS (Basic Input/Output System).
If the above solutions do not fix the problem, the track pad needs to be replaced. That can be done using the replacement guide, found here.
Audio does not play through the internal speakers
The volume on your laptop is turned off or too low to be audible. Turn the volume up by pressing F3 until audio plays at the desired volume.
Check for an update on your driver using your laptop’s device manager and searching for an update.
If your laptop does not detect a speaker or the above solutions do not solve the issue, perform a hard reset. This can be done by powering down your computer, removing power sources, and then restarting the laptop.
If the above solutions do not resolve the problem, the laptop likely has a faulty speaker. It can be replaced using this replacement guide.
