What you need

Step 1

              DC Jack               
  • Before repairing device, turn off and unplug computer.
  • Once device has been powered off and unplugged, proceed to remove the five 8.0 mm Phillips screws and four 5.0 mm Phillips screws using the Phillips #0 screwdriver for both.
  • Carefully remove back of laptop and set aside.

Step 2

  • After removing the cover, proceed to remove the twelve 5.0 mm screws that are circled in red in the first picture.
  • Use a spudger to gently lift the connector tab between the battery and the circuit board
  • Gently remove the battery from the laptop.

Step 3

  • Use a Phillips #0 Screwdriver to remove seven screws from the right half of the motherboard.
  • If you are unsure where the motherboard is located please try to refer to the picture as best as you can in order for it to help guide you along the way.

Step 4

  • Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove the 5.0 mm screws from the fan.
  • Disconnect the fan port.
  • Use the screwdriver to remove remaining screws from the right side of the motherboard.
  • Remove the four screws from the Ethernet port.
  • Remove the Ethernet port.
  • Pull the motherboard to the left and upward to remove it from the laptop.
  • Again, if you are unsure where any of these sections are located please try to refer to the picture as best as you can in order for it to help guide you along the way.

Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove the 5.0 mm screws from the fan.

Disconnect the fan port.

Use the screwdriver to remove remaining screws from the right side of the motherboard.

Remove the four screws from the Ethernet port.

Remove the Ethernet port.

Pull the motherboard to the left and upward to remove it from the laptop.

Again, if you are unsure where any of these sections are located please try to refer to the picture as best as you can in order for it to help guide you along the way.

Step 5

  • Locate the DC Jack on the motherboard.
  • Heat soldering to remove DC Jack in the six locations shown.
  • Please pay very close attention to what you’re doing when heating the soldering, as this can cause injury if done so improperly.
  • Replace with new DC Jack and solder in to secure it.
  • Work backwards, replacing mother board, all screws, battery, and finally the back panel.

Locate the DC Jack on the motherboard.

Heat soldering to remove DC Jack in the six locations shown.

Please pay very close attention to what you’re doing when heating the soldering, as this can cause injury if done so improperly.

Replace with new DC Jack and solder in to secure it.

Work backwards, replacing mother board, all screws, battery, and finally the back panel.
