Introduction
The S400C comes with 4GB of RAM soldered on the motherboard and hence non-removable. The official Asus position is that the RAM expansion slot supports a maximum of 4 GB memory for a total of 8 GB. However, my own system is running a Samsung 8 GB M471B1G73EB0-YK0 module, for a total of 12 GB. Note that you must be running a 64-bit operating system to use more than 4 GB of memory.
The expansion slot takes DDR3L PC3L-12800 1600 MHz SODIMM memory.
Best practices state that you should wear an ESD (Electro Static Discharge) wrist strap when replacing computer memory.

Step 5
- Slide the RAM out in a straight line to remove it.
- When replacing the RAM, insert it at the same angle and be sure to slide it fully into the slot before snapping it down. The latches on the sides should fit exactly into the cutouts on the side of the memory module.

Hi Kenechi,
From what I can see, the RAM you bought sounds like it should be compatible with your VivoBook. One thing you might try is to update your BIOS; it is quite common for the BIOS to get updated to support newer RAM modules as they come out, so it’s possible you’re running an older version that doesn’t have the configuration for the RAM you bought.
I’d suggest doing a BIOS update then get back to us and let us know what you find, if it works after that or not.
