You have trouble hearing sounds from your computer.
Test audio through the computer using both headphones and speakers. Test headphones on another device to ensure correct operation. If the audio is distorted while listening through headphones, the audio jack may be faulty. Audio that cuts in and out is often a sign of a loose audio jack, so make sure the audio jack is fully inserted in the computer.
If the audio sound is distorted when listening through the laptop’s speakers, the audio driver may be corrupt or out of date. Go to Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Sound Controllers. Click on your sound card and click “Update driver.” Select your updated driver, then restart the computer. A system diagnostic can also be performed by right-clicking on the device manager, and selecting “Detect Issues”.
The touchpad does not function properly or is not responding correctly.
Ensure that the touchpad has not been accidentally disabled. To check this, press and hold both the “Fn” key and the “F9” key.
You may also press and hold both the Windows key and the “R” key to open the Run command. Type devmgmt.msc into the box and press Enter or click OK. The Device Manager will open. Click to expand “Test,” expand “Mice and other pointing devices,” and right click the mouse that appears. If “Enable” appears, click it. If “Disable” appears, there is another issue.
If the above solution did not work, you may need to replace your touchpad. [Link TBA]
The fan will turn on more frequently, causing extra noise.
This usually occurs when the device is too crowded, when the user is using the device on a soft surface, or when the temperature rises above an optimal level. Ensure the device isn’t crowded to allow for optimal air-flow. If the device is used on a pillow, on a blanket, on your lap, or is used in an area where the fan is too crowded then the device will overheat and activate the fan more frequently.
If Windows or all the drivers are not up to date then the fan will be activated more frequently. Go into the device settings and ensure everything is up to date and restart the device before using it. The user can change the battery cooling settings to allow the fan to be activated less frequently.
Commonly seen by a stop error or “blue screen of death.”
This usually occurs when there is an issue with the hardware or driver displayed by the error message. Firstly try rebooting (turning off then back on). Ram may need to be flashed, which should be carried out by a professional, or replaced which can be done at home by following these steps found here: [Link TBA]
The hinges have broken because they have reached the end of their life expectancy, or because of mishandling.
Guide for hinge replacement can be found here [Link TBA].
