Introduction
The touchpad is used to move the mouse around the screen and navigate your computer’s interface. If the touchpad no longer responds, the mouse will freeze in place on the screen and not respond to any movement on the touchpad.
Before following this guide, try updating the touchpad drivers (this may require the use of an external mouse).
Before you proceed, make sure the computer is powered down completely and that the charging cable is disconnected. Please note that replacing the touchpad will require the removal of the the battery.
What you need
Step 1
Battery
- Use a T6 screwdriver to remove the ten 6 mm case screws.
- The two screws adjacent to the device serial number stamps are longer than the others. These two screws run about 11 mm long.
- Remove the back cover from the laptop
- DO NOT BEND OR PUNCTURE THE BATTERY: Puncturing the battery can result in injury since the battery can catch fire or explode when exposed directly to oxygen
