What you need

Step 1

              Assemble the Sampler               
  • Ensure that the batteries are plugged in inside the boxes before assembly and that the node box is on manual mode (noted as manual mode or sampling normally on the battery box).
  • Fit the node box under the sampler lid on the side of the programmer next to the tubing outlet.
  • Fit the battery box behind the sampler.
  • Screw the battery terminal and the flow terminal into the sampler.
  • Wrap and tuck the wires on the unused side of the sampler and secure with tape and twist ties.

Step 2

              Feed Tubing up to Water               
  • Push the vinyl tubing into the pump nozzle on the sampler.
  • Feed the tubing through the woods and secure it so that it will not move throughout a storm
  • Small increases in elevation are okay, but it is ideal for the tubing to have a downward slope at all times.

Step 3

              Attach Tubing to Sontek Sensor               
  • Extend the tubing through the water to reach the Sontek Sensor.
  • Attach the tubing to the steel strut channel using a band clamp, and compress it until the tubing is secure but open.
  • Do not compress the tube too much because it can make the sampler work too hard.
  • Bring the tubing to the bottom of the stream bed by covering it in rocks without compressing the tubing so much that water could not pump through.
  • Could also potentially secure it down with hardware to the stream bed.

Extend the tubing through the water to reach the Sontek Sensor.

Attach the tubing to the steel strut channel using a band clamp, and compress it until the tubing is secure but open.

Step 4

              Connect Battery Box and Node Box               
  • Connect the male and female crimp connectors from the battery box and node box respectively.
  • Connect the male and female amphenol battery connectors from the battery box and node box respectively.
  • Secure loose wire to the sampler with tape on the opposite side of the sampler as the node box.

Step 5

              Program the Sampler               
  • Program the sampler based upon the settings outlined in the Autosampler Programming and Autosampler Configuration guides.
  • Alter the line length and similar parameters as they differ in the field from the guides.

Step 6

              Close the Sampler               
  • Switch the box to node mode (marked as node mode or “shut up and take my samples” on the box), and put the lid on the sampler.
  • Attach the 3 carabiners to the hooks on the sampler, and connect them at the top in a lock.
  • Wait until the first sample is triggered and taken from the cloud to confirm that the sampler is connected and taking the correct volume.

Switch the box to node mode (marked as node mode or “shut up and take my samples” on the box), and put the lid on the sampler.

Attach the 3 carabiners to the hooks on the sampler, and connect them at the top in a lock.

Wait until the first sample is triggered and taken from the cloud to confirm that the sampler is connected and taking the correct volume.
