Check Bluetooth Connection Steps
Turn on the Beats Pill XL and hold down the ‘b’ button until it pulses white.Activate your Bluetooth device and search for the pill.Select Beats Pill XL.Successful pairing will occurs when the Bluetooth status indicator is solid white.Bluetooth Status IndicatorsOff - OffOn connected - Solid whiteOn Unconnected - OffPairing - Pulse whiteNFC Touch - 2 Blinks
Turn on the device.Press and hold the ‘b’ and power button for 10 seconds.The LEDs will blink white and red 3 times, indicating it has been reset.
If all else fails, the motherboard will need to be replaced.

Battery doesn’t last the advertised amount
When device powers on there are five indicator lights that light up depending on the battery level. These are located next to the power on button.If one light shows up, it means you battery is depleted and needs to be charged.Charge until an 5 indicator lights are on upon start-up.
This speaker has an option to charge other mobile devices via USB cable. In doing so the battery will deplete faster, resulting in a shorter lifespan.Unplug the mobile device for a longer lifespan.
Check if the outlet you are using is working. If not, try another outlet.Check if you charge cable works. If not, replace the charge cable.If both are fine, follow the link below on how to replace the battery.
Over time batteries lose their charge and unfortunately need to be replaced.

Speakers are too low, too high, crackling, or popping
- Turn on the speaker and keep it playing.Adjust the volume on device and/or speaker.If plugged in via 3.5 mm audio cable, make sure it is fully inserted.If using Bluetooth, see if using a 3.5 mm audio cable fixes the issue. If so, try troubleshooting for Bluetooth.If speakers are still not clear, follow steps on replacing the speaker in the link below.
The speakers inside the Beats Pill XL are damaged and need to be replaced.

No matter what you do, the ‘b’ button has no purpose

The connection between the ‘b’ button and the motherboard is broken.

Can’t figure out how to update the Beats Pill XL
The Beats Pill XL will occasionally experience software issues.
- Connect micro usb cable that came with the device to the Beats Pill XL and to your computerNOTE: Beats Pill XL supports Windows 7 and later or Mac OS X 10.8 and later.WARNING: Do NOT use a usb hub.Go to Beats UpdaterDownload the Beats Updater to your computerNOTE: Remember where you save the fileNOTE: The file will be a .exe file for Windows and .pkg file for Mac.Follow the installation setup steps.After installing Beats updater to your computer, a registration webpage will appear on your screen.Once your Beats Pill XL is registered, the device will chime to let you know it’s been updated.NOTE: This may take a few minutes to update.
You will be able to rename your device after the update is done. If you do, you’ll need to pair up again your Beats Pill XL with your blue tooth device.
