Introduction

Before beginning this repair, make sure your weed whacker is off and not connected to power before trying to replace the line. You’ll need 1.7mm of line for the trimmer and a pair of scissors.

What you need

  • To prepare a new line for your weed whacker, use your utility scissors and cut a piece of line between 30 cm and 50 cm long.

  • Press the buttons on the opposite sides of the trimmer cover and lift it off the head of the trimmer.

  • Remove the spool from the trimmer head.
  • Be careful when removing the spool as the line is still being fed through the access hole.

  • Remove any remaining pieces of old line by sliding it out of the space it sits in.
  • Insert the new line into the opening.

  • Wrap your line around the spool and make sure you leave 10 cm of the line loose.
  • There are arrows on the spool indicating which direction to wrap the line.

  • Insert the end of the line into the metal hole.
  • Feed about 10 cm of line through the hole.

  • Place spool back in place and snap it into place.
  • Place the cover back on the head of the weed whacker.
