Please ensure the vac is turned off. First check if the charger is plugged in properly into the wall outlet and no breakers are tripped. Make sure the charger wire is undamaged and properly connected completely into the vacuum. If the charging light still does not turn on, request a warranty charger replacement or order a replacement charger
If the charging light never shows fully charged after an entire day, the battery is not charging, try reconnecting and turning the vacuum on and off. If the battery still won’t charge or only charges intermittently, a replacement may be required.(!!!link to guide here)
If the minivac charges correctly when disconnected to the stick, look at the “minivac won’t connect” troubleshooting
Make sure the battery is fully charged while you use the device for full suction. If there is low suction power with a fully charged battery, a replacement may be required.(!!!link to guide here)
Make sure the flow from the stick to the minivac is not obstructed with large bits of material. Be sure to clean your filter and empty your dustbin after each use.
If you use the switch on the stick and the vacuum does not turn on, the switch or the connection to the minivac is faulty. Confirm the device charges through the stick portion, if it can there may be a problem with the switch or brush itself. If the vacuum cannot charge, look at the “minivac won’t connect” troubleshooting
If no sound is produced near the brush when it turned on, the switch could be broken. Check with your warranty or replace your switch for the stick portion.(!!!link to guide here)
Make sure the vacuum is turned off before troubleshooting. Check that there is no material clogging the vacuum or the brush and belt assembly. Follow our brush or belt replacement guides in order to remove and clear debris from the vacuum. If either the belt or brush seem worn down or broken, follow the replacement guide.(!!!link to guide here)
If the connection to the minivac is secure, both the brush and the belt are working correctly, and the switch is working, the brush motor could be broken. If there is a humming or clicking sound when the belt and brush is removed, this is a clear sign of the brush motor being faulty. Follow our brush motor replace guide or avoid using the brush function to prevent further damage.(!!!link to guide here)
Make sure the battery is fully charged, with the vacuum turned off while charging.
After many cycles of use or after intense wear, the battery may lose charge over time or wont function at all. Contact Black and Decker for warranty coverage or replace the battery(!!!link to guide here) in order restore function.
If an audible clicking or no movement at all is happening when switched on, but the power light is on, the suction motor or internal wiring may be broken. Do not turn on the vacuum until the motor is replaced(!!!link to guide here) to prevent further damage.
Make sure the metal pads and pins between the minivac and the stick are touching properly. A brush with no water may be used to clean the contacts (those metal pads and pins) in order to remove corrosion. If there is a good connection but the switch on the stick portion does not do anything, the switch or internal wiring if the stick portion may be broken.
If the switch is not working, try cleaning the area around it and the switch itself with electrical contact cleaner. A replacement of the switch may be needed.(!!!link to guide here) A temporary solution is to turn on the minivac with its own switch but use it within the stick portion, this way the vacuum is still being used with only a little loss in function.
Make sure the charging light is on when you plug in the vacuum for charging. Give the battery a full day to charge in order to make sure its fully charged. Make sure the vacuum is off while charging. If the vacuum still does not function, the battery has lost capacity.
Over time, the battery may lose capacity naturally from repeated uses and will eventually need to be replaced. When this happens, you need to make sure you can get a warranty replacement battery or replace the battery(!!!link to guide here) in order to restore function.
