              Battery               
  • Place your Blackberry facedown in front of you.

  • Press the cover release button on the bottom of your device. Lift and remove the back cover.

  • From the top, use your fingernail to lift the battery out.

              Rear Case               
  • Remove the SIM card.

  • Remove the six 7.0mm Torx screws securing the rear case to the rest of the phone.

  • Use the plastic opening tool to remove the rear case.

              Trackball               
  • Using the same plastic opening tool, lift out the motherboard assembly.
  • Remove the motherboard assembly from left to right, using caution near the audio jack on the right side of the device.

Step 8

  • Using a spudger, pry the top of the metal casing off. There are two pins holding it in place; it should pop off easily.
  • Repeat to the bottom.
  • This step requires pristine dexterity. Try to find a friend with smaller fingers if necessary.

  • Lift the trackball out of its socket.
