Introduction
This is a quick and easy job that any one can do and you’ll save money too. Follow this step-by-step guide to change the tail light on your 2003-2010 BMW 5 Series.
What you need
Step 1
Tail light Bulb
- Open the trunk of the car to access the tail lights.
- Remove the two 5 mm screws holding the panel cover in place.

Step 2
- With a flathead screwdriver, turn the screws half a turn counterclockwise.

- With plyers, remove the screws.

- Pull up the trunk matt and remove it from the corner.
- Pull up the panel by the tab.
- The panel should lift right out.

Step 5
- You will see the light bulb holster.
- Turn the dial in the middle of of the black plastic light bulb holster.
- Pull the holster out of the trunk bay.

Step 6
- Grab the light bulb at the base and twist counterclockwise.
- DO NOT TWIST THE BULB BY THE GLASS.

Step 7
- Pull out the bulb and repeat the process in reverse order with the new bulb to reassemble.

To reassemble, follow these instructions in reverse order.
