Introduction
What you need
Step 1
Battery
- Here is the back of the pocket watch. Honestly, no idea how to open it
- By careful inspecting the sides of the lid a small area showed a slight difference which will allow a small screwdriver or similar tool to pry on the lid
- A small screwdriver is used to pop the lid open

Step 2
- Looks like the original battery was removed years ago. This watch was water damaged 30years ago.
- Green corrosion stains on the movement are evident and this watch will most likely require further work
- Here is the replacement battery. The original battery would have been marked as a “Bulova 242” but those apparently are no longer available. The replacement is a “Renata 344” with same specs.

Step 3
- Important here is that the larger area is the positive battery post. It needs to be facing up
- Positive contact of the watch loosened with the slotted screw to allow battery insertion
- Replacement battery shimmied into position

Step 4
- Battery in place and positive contact tightened with the slotted screw
- This shows the area that was noticed to allow using a prying tool to remove the lid.
- Reinstall the lid by simply pushing it back onto the watch

parts are dis-continued for this model, you can still get the battery, if parts are needed I would suggest maybe Ebay for a junker or a running watch preferably ….
