- Locate the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the camera below the shutter button.

- Find the marked arrow on the battery compartment cover labeled “BATT. OPEN”. Slide the lever following the arrow’s direction and lift at the same time to release the latch.

- Release the lever and allow the battery compartment cover to completely open.
- Remove the battery.

Date and Time Battery
- Remove the date and time battery holder by sliding it out of the slot.

- Remove the date and time battery from the battery holder.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Thank you. This is fantastic information that is not in the manual. I bought an unnecessary main battery, but this resuscitated my camera on a trip.

This was so helpful, thank you! Also if you are in a jam and do not have a CR2016, you can use a CR2032 directly without using the normal battery tray.
