The camera does not show any signs of powering up.
A dysfunctional power adapter may be causing your camera to not turn on. Consider buying a new adapter to charge your camera.
If the power adapter is not damaged and your camera still won’t turn on, then the battery may be faulty. You should consider replacing the battery using our guide.
If your photos are too bright, your camera’s lens aperture or shutter may be the culprits. These two components play critical roles in determining photo exposure.
The lens aperture controls the size of the lens and directs the amount of light let into the lens. If it is damaged, too much light may be entering the lens and will result in overexposed pictures. Use this guide to correct your lens aperture.
The camera shutter determines the amount of time the camera lens is open, also known as exposure time. If the camera shutter is jammed it may be letting too much light into the lens, resulting in overly bright photos. You can fix your shutter by following this guide.
The camera turns on but the LCD screen is still dark.
The camera sensor converts what you see through the viewfinder or LCD monitor into an image. If the sensor is dirty, it may cause the LCD to appear blank even if the camera is on. Use this guide to clean your camera sensor.

The camera does not retain charge.
If the camera is dying quickly despite being fully charged, you should first consider the age of the battery. According to the Powershot Pro1 manual, the battery pack has a battery life of 300 charge cycles. If the battery has surpassed this number of charges it should be replaced. If the battery is in working condition but still fails to retain charge then the power adapter may be the cause behind the problem. You should consider replacing the adapter.
When taking a picture, the flash is not activated.
Check to make sure that the flash option is not set to auto or off. If it is set to auto, the flash will only activate if a picture is taken in a low-lit setting and if it is turned off then the flash will never be activated.
