Your battery will not hold a charge
Plug in a power adapter and try to power the camera on. If the camera will power on while plugged into the adapter and not while mobile then the battery is faulty. See repair guide for Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS Battery Replacement.
To test power adapter, plug camera into the wall. If the camera does not show it is being charged then see repair guide for Power Adapter Replacement.
If your lens does not expand when zooming out or in or powering on.
Turn on the camera and observe the lens. If your lens is not retracting or expanding try to see if it will work when using the zoom feature. If the lens is still not expanding or retracting or you see an E16 error message on the screen then see repair guide for a Faulty Lens.
Pictures appear to be distorted then the shutter is not capturing the picture properly
Turn on the camera and try to take a still picture. If the picture is not being captured, big glare in picture, or blurry picture then see repair guide for a Faulty Shutter Motor Replacement.
If image appears to dark, too white, dots on image, rough, or grainy then there is a Miscalculation of Aperture.
Adjust the brightness and exposure compensation, adjust the image with the eye contrast, and adjust the flash and ISO speed. If changing these settings still result in rough or grainy images then consider replacing the motherboard.
Shot cannot be taken even though shutter button is pressed fully.
Set the [IS mode] to [Continuous] and set the flash to [H]. Increase the ISO speed and attach camera to a tripod. If image still does not show up on the screen when the shutter button is pressed then consider replacing shutter button. See repair guide for Faulty Shutter Button.
If the button appears to be sticky then there is dirt or debris under the shutter button needs to be cleaned. See repair guide for Dirty Shutter Button .
